5.Recognition of Current Status and Future Prospects

What changes should we make to protect the earth, living things, and humanity?  103

If human-made disasters must be corrected, tomorrow may disappear.  103

Natural Disasters and Economic Unrest   105

In this context, what do people today, especially young people, care about?  106

Is the structure of society right? What does that mean?  107

How can we keep the social structure right?  108

It may be necessary to consider national efforts as well.  109

The impact of environmental degradation on people’s lives is by no means small.  110

Are major problems looming close at hand being overlooked?   111

What should we do to correct human-made disasters?    112

What is our approach to preventing greenhouse gas emissions?   114

Is it possible to reduce carbon dioxide gas?    115

Can global warming be prevented?   116

How can we generate appropriate energy?   117

To protect air pollution    119

To protect water pollution and maintain a stable water supply   120

To protect our food    122

What we need to learn about the food chain in securing our food    124

What can be done to prevent explosive population growth?   125

I would like to think about how we are protected by this environment.  125

How should we proceed with activities to protect living things?    126

The environment that protects us may be destroyed.     127

Where are the ways to prevent environmental destruction?    128

Why couldn’t these rapid changes be stopped?    130

How far will this crisis spread before humanity realizes it?     132

What can we do?    132

How should countries cooperate?     136

We may also be able to refer to the European approach.     139

What can we do to change public opinion to transform the world?  141

In Chapter 5, regarding the current situation and future prospects, I organized the current events from a fairly broad perspective and considered what path we can take to resolve them. It is difficult to put it in a few words, but I am concerned that if we do not change the current trend, we may face the extinction of life, including human beings, in the not-too-distant future as an extension of the current situation. On the other hand, I also expressed my hope that if only people could join forces and form a strong cooperative system to protect nature and humanity, we could combine our wisdom and avert most of the crises on this planet. However, I also mentioned that the only way to realize this goal would be for each country to change from within. In other words, the words and actions of each and every person living in this era will become important. Furthermore, what I wanted to convey in this chapter is what I described in “Think about how we are protected by this environment”. I hope that the contents of this chapter will reach people and make them aware of the need to protect living creatures with a gentle heart, and that they will once again think about what each of us can do to help.
