What should life be like? I want to see the difference between the past and the present.（9）

Nowadays, internationalization has advanced and the standard of living has improved in many aspects. On the other hand, however, people are daily swept up in the trends of international financial markets and are placed in an environment of intensifying competition. Under such circumstances, I think it is important to be aware of and cherish the sources of peace of mind as we live our daily life.

『(In the past) When each country adopted the fixed interest rate system, the domestic economy of each country was relatively stable, although there were differences in national power. As a market, it was closed and limited compared to a floating interest rate system. However, people did not have to deal with the fluctuation of world stocks and exchange rates as often as they do now, and they were able to proceed with their work calmly, and the stress on people seems to have been relatively small.
(Today) It is good that the floating interest rate system has become common, and international barriers have been reduced through trade liberalization, making the world closer in many ways, and that people’s lives have become richer as a result. However, on the other hand, as people are at the mercy of trends in the international financial market every day and competition has intensified, I fear that it is becoming difficult to survive by doing steady work alone. People are under stress on a daily basis, and the environment is becoming less and less conducive to necessarily calm work. I don’t know what form is desirable, but I do think we need to seek somewhere an environment where we can regain peace of mind?』

『In recent years, life has become more convenient, but at the same time, it seems that society has become more difficult to maintain a relaxed mindset while steadily carrying out one’s work. Although we all have no choice but to come to terms with the era in which we were born, I think it is necessary to find somewhere a place to base our precious peace of mind.』
